Lower/Middle Social Studies & Athletic Director

Trevor Leafe joined the FIDS family in 2020 as the new Athletic Director and the Grades 4-8 Social Studies teacher. He is excited to take on these roles to promote both the academic and physical health of the student body at Fisher Island Day School. Trevor's social studies curriculum aims to educate students to become active, compassionate, and engaged citizens in their community, country, and world.

Prior to working at FIDS, Trevor taught middle school in New York City at the Classical Charter School in the Bronx.  He also served as the Advanced Placement U.S. History and Current Events teacher at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York’s upper East Side while also coaching track-and-field and cross-country racing.

When he is not busy at school, Trevor relishes participating in athletic activities such as running marathons, skiing, biking, golfing, and free-diving—he is a dive master in scuba diving. He also enjoys playing with his golden-retriever puppy, along with traveling and exploring all that South Florida has to offer.

Trevor received his Bachelor’s Degree in History from Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., where he earned All-American honors and a spot in their Athletic Hall of Fame while competing for their Alpine Ski team. He earned his Master’s Degree in Adolescent Social-Studies Education from Hunter College in New York, N.Y.
