Lower/Middle School Lead Teacher

Laura Paklin joined the Fisher Island Day School team in 2020 as a science teacher. She began her career in education when she joined the Peace Corps in 2018.  She served as a Peace Corps volunteer in rural Albania by teaching health/science education, leading clubs, and hosting camps in an elementary and middle school.  Laura focused on developing her students' life skills, assisting teachers in curriculum development, and creating special events and projects.  She acquired a passion for teaching while serving abroad and hopes to promote her students' natural curiosity when it comes to learning about the world around them.

Laura was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She loves to play tennis, bike, and go boating. Her favorite activity is hiking and learning something new about the great outdoors.

Laura graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Health Education and Behavior.
