About Fisher Island Day School
  • Fisher Island Day School is a co-educational, independent day school which serves students enrolled in Early Learning (2 yrs.) through the Eighth Grade, and is located on beautiful and safe Fisher Island, accessible only via an eight-minute ferry from Miami Beach.
  • The school is fully accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools, the National Association of independent Schools, and the State of Florida Department of Children & Families.
  • Fisher Island Day School is authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students.
  • The school was founded in 2004 by parents Robert and Lexie Potamkin. Thanks to their generous support and that of other donors, the school is financially secure.
  • The very active Board of Trustees is comprised exclusively of parents and noted educators from the greater Miami community.
  • The school occupies a beautiful 1.5-acre campus with a state-of-the-art playground by Kompan. Five acres of adjacent playing fields are also available for student use.
  • The facility is technologically advanced and offers classroom Internet access and interactive white-boards.
  • Fisher Island Day School is organized into three developmentally appropriate schools:
    • Early Learning - Kindergarten     Primary School
    • Grades One - Five                       Lower School
    • Grades Six - Eight                       Middle School
