Dear Students, Teachers and Parents welcome to the 2011-2012 school year at Fisher Island Day School !!!
Once again, Kimberly Cacioppo and Pooja Tripathi, are privileged to be Parent Teacher Association Co-Chairs. We wanted to thank everyone who has worked so hard for the school.
At FIDS, parents enter a partnership with the School in the education of their children. Families are encouraged to participate fully and frequently in school ceremonies and special events. A list of all PTA sponsored events are listed in the PTA letter as well as the school calendar and monthly updates are published in the School's newsletter. Our Parents Association fosters the spirit of volunteerism and helps pervades the school community.
All FIDS parents belong to the Parents Association. PTA meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. All PTA events are supported by the dues paid by FIDS families. The Parents Association sponsors many School events.
We want you to get involved from day one!
Our goal is to have parents from each family find a meaningful way to volunteer in some capacity at FIDS. We have made it easier than ever to learn about volunteer opportunities and sign up to help in ways that are convenient and rewarding for you.
Please join the PA in supporting your children, their teachers, and FIDS.
Please be ready to sign-up for our PTA committees for the following upcoming events:

Parent Ambassador Program:
The Parent Ambassador Program was created to help new families feel welcome in our school and to show them how to get involved in the FIDS community. Please welcome and assist the new families in your class.
Our Special thanks to Genaro and Amelia for helping during summer vacation in getting the school ready for the students.

Our New Head of School, Mr. Roy Vermillion
Please join us in welcoming our new head of school, Mr. Roy Vermillion, to Fisher Island Day School and the Miami area. Mr. Vermillion was in charge of nearly 300 students at The Pine School in Stuart, Florida. With a background in early childhood education and with experience in working with gifted and talented children, he looks forward to expanding and enhancing the curriculum at FIDS. Mr. Vermillion’s goal is to make FIDS THE premier independent school in the State of Florida.
