New York Trip for 4th and 5th Graders
The 4th & 5thgraders at FIDS would like to thank everyone for their support with weekly Lemonade Stand. As you all know, the Lemonade Stand profits were an important financial contribution toward making their recent trip to New York City a reality. This first trip (of what will be become an annual tradition at FIDS) took place this past week, and will forever be a heartfelt memory to all the students and parents who participated. They experienced four days of eye-opening insight into some of our nation’s most notable historical, artistic and scientific events and contributions. In their four fun-filled days they managed to visit what would seemingly take a month to fit into one’s schedule.
A list of just some of the unforgettable highlights of their trip include:

Excursion to the top of the Empire State Building

Museum of Natural History

Liberty State Park

Ellis Island (including a play explaining the contribution of Emma Lazarus and her poem, “A New Colossus”)

Liberty Island and the Statue of Liberty

Chinatown and a chance to practice Mandarin

Broadway show – Phantom of the Opera

Central Park (including paddle boat rides and a carriage ride, as well as a description of the park’s history)

A scenic walk across the Brooklyn Bridge

Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum

Ground Zero – and a visit to the historical St. Paul’s Church

Summer Camp 2011
The 2011 FIDS SUMMER CAMP
Campers will participate in water sports, golf, tennis (with golf and tennis pros)
Campers will also be taking cutting edge educational classes such as... Mad Science Lab, Reading Adventure, Math Quest, Let's Get Techy, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese
Junior Camp 2-3 years of age
Rates & Times:
FIDS students 2 week session $400.00
Non-FIDS students 2 week session $500.00
Optional organic and healthy lunch for $5 per day
Times: 9:00 am - 12:00 Noon
Senior Camp 4-10 years of age
Rates & Times
FIDS students 2 week session $800
Non-FIDS students 2 week session $900
This includes a healthy and organic lunch and snacks
Times: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
