The kick off has begun! Break out the flapper dresses and the zoot suits; it's time to take a step back to the gilded age of the Vanderbilt era. This year's Gala will be a Roaring 20s themed party. This promises to be a night of decadence, with luxury auctions, fashion, entertainment, food and fun.

FIDS KIDS CARE
Our first FIDS KIDS CARE event will support the Joshua's Heart Foundation© on Saturday, December 10, 2011. Volunteers will meet at 2:00 p.m. at the North Miami Avenue Church of God, 14250 North Miami Avenue, Miami, Florida 33168. The children who are volunteering will get hands-on experience in packaging and distributing food to needy families. If you cannot assist with the distribution, you can help by collecting non-persihable food items from Monday, November 28th to Friday, December 9th.
Please join us on December 10th to encourage our children that there is more in giving than receiving.
Holiday Gift Fund for Faculty & Staff
The Parent Teacher Association will conclude the Holiday Gift Fund Collection on Monday, December 12th at 4:00 p.m.
Please understand no late donations will be accepted due to the imminent distribution process on Wednesday, December 14th.
If you would like to contribute ($100 per-family suggested donation) please drop-off your check/cash to Sheila.
'Tis the Season!
Breakfast with Santa will be on Sunday, December 11, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Once again, it will be hosted at the Vanderbilt Mansion on Fisher Island. Please purchase your tickets from Sheila. The cost is $50 per person. Santa will be the guest of honor. There will be a full breakfast buffet and a complimentary photo session with a professional photographer. In addition, there will be arts and crafts for the children.
Please be sure to purchase your tickets ASAP as last year's event sold out.
FIDS Nutcracker Suite
The Nutcracker Suite will be performed on December 16, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the FIDS courtyard. We will also welcome The New World Symphony wood quintet, who will perform with our children.
Ms. Enoelia Zaldivar and the entire FIDS faculty will be coordinating a special Nutcracker Suite, which will incorporate dance and music. The performance will be followed by light snacks. Plan on attending to show your encouragement.
FIELD TRIP FOR PRE-K TO FIFTH GRADE TO THE NEW WORLD SYMPHONY
A special THANKS to TATIANA AND RICCARDO SILVA for organizing an amazing all school field trip for teachers, children and parents to THE NEW WORLD SYMPHONY.
The Fisher Island Day School children, teachers and parents are invited to attend the rehearsal of The New World Symphony’s December Education Concert on Wednesday, December 14th. The rehearsal will commence at 10:00 a.m. Our children will meet Symphony Fellows at 9:30 a.m., followed by the rehearsal concert at 10:00 a.m. The field trip will conclude with an outdoor afternoon picnic at New World Symphony's "Soundscape" park.
