Art Teacher

Jacqueline Roch joined the Fisher Island Day School's faculty as Art Teacher in 2017. She loves all things tropical — the flavors, the weather, the skies, and the colors! Enter Jacqueline’s art room, and witness her contagious excitement about making and appreciating all types of art. Students are provided artistic license to develop and explore with a variety of media and techniques to produce original works and also to understand concepts and their place in our history.

Jacqueline began her career as an art educator with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, where she taught first in a magnet program and then moved to Coral Gables Elementary. During her eight-year tenure with the school system, she was a museum educator and wrote curriculum for several of the county’s art initiatives — including interdisciplinary art methods, sketchbooks, and writing.

As she was beginning her teaching career, Jacqueline also started painting professionally. Today, she is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, Southeastern Pastel Society, and the founder of Miami Plein Aire. Her images have been selected as the poster art for favorite Florida festivals — Coconut Grove, Beaux Arts, Images, South Miami, Fairchild, Naples and Miami Beach. Jacqueline has also received a myriad of awards — both national and across the state — for her vibrant paintings. Her works are found in several corporate and private collections, such as the State of Florida Department of Cultural Affairs, Carnival Cruise Lines, and Miami Dade County. Highlights from her exhibition history include the Florida State Capitol, Biscayne Nature Center, and Boca Raton Museum of Art. Currently, she is a national park service artist-in-residence for the state of Florida, with her studio located at the historic Bakehouse Art complex in Wynwood.

Jacqueline received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Miami, and she holds both a Master's of Science in Education and a Specialist's degree in Art Education from Florida International University.
