Fourth/Fifth Teacher, Middle School Departmental Coordinator

Amanda Wolgast joined the staff of Fisher Island Day School after six years abroad.  She spent three years in Belgium, working as an English and Theater Arts teacher, but greatly missed her previous work with elementary students.  Subsequently, she lived in Argentina for three years , where she taught both Grade 3 and Grade 5.  Amanda, originally an Orlando native, is happy to be back teaching in the beautiful state of Florida.

If you visit Amanda's classroom, you will find students actively engaged in exploratory learning, balancing their time between collaboration and independent reflection, creatively demonstrating their understanding of content, celebrating and accepting other viewpoints, and thoroughly enjoying what they are doing. You may not want to leave! Amanda believes that the best learning occurs in an environment where trust, encouragement, support, and laughter are at the forefront.

Amanda received both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts from the University of Central Florida. Go Knights!
