About Fisher Island Day School
  • Fisher Island Day School is a co-educational, independent day school with approximately 100 students enrolled in the Early Learning (2 yrs.) through the Sixth Grade, and is located on beautiful and safe Fisher Island, accessible only via an eight-minute ferry from Miami Beach.
  • The school is fully accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools, the Florida Kindergarten Council, the National Association of independent Schools, and the State of Florida Department of Children & Families.
  • Fisher Island Day School is authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students.
  • The school was founded in 2004 by parents Robert and Lexie Potamkin. Thanks to their generous support and that of other donors, the school is financially secure.
  • The very active Board of Trustees is comprised exclusively of parents and noted educators from the greater Miami community.
  • The school occupies a beautiful one-acre campus with a state-of-the-art playground by Kompan. Five acres of adjacent playing fields are also available for student use.
  • The facility is technologically advanced and offers classroom Internet access and interactive white-boards.
